ShowBloom Champion spotlight–Abby Tipton

“A goal without a plan is just a wish,” Antoine de Saint-Exupery. Commitment, planning and hard work are just a few key traits that helped ShowBloom Champion, Abby Tipton, experience tremendous success this summer show season.

ShowBloom recently sat down with Abby to talk about her experiences with the product and how it led her to a winning summer.

ShowBloom: Abby, tell us a little about your livestock industry involvement, including your show cattle experience?

Abby: Me and my family run a successful Limousin and Lim-Flex cow/calf operation in Greenback, TN. I’ve shown cattle for 7 years at all levels. I began at the county and state fairs and now we travel all over the United States showing. Since 2013 I have worked as a Beef Specialist Representative with Select Sires. I travel around eastern Tennessee as an A.I. technician.

ShowBloom: What sparked your interest in showing cattle?

Abby: I started showing sheep and pigs but they did not satisfy my eagerness to always be competing in the show ring. I needed something that would have to be shown all year round, but also challenging from a learning standpoint.

ShowBloom: Summer proved very successful for you and your family, give us the highlights on your winnings.

Abby: I was fortunate to have success in the showring this summer. Some of the highlights included:

  • Division 1 Champion heifer @ 2016 National Junior Limousin Show & Congress
  • Supreme Champion Heifer @ 2016 Tennessee Junior Limousin Field Day
  • Champion of Champions @ 2016 Tennessee State Fair
  • Reserve Champion Lim-Flex Bull @ 2016 Eastern Regional Junior Limousin Show
  • Champion Limousin Bull @ 2016 Tennessee State Fair

ShowBloom: When did you add ShowBloom to your ration and what changes have you seen in your cattle since you began feeding ShowBloom?

Abby:  I’ve been feeding ShowBloom for three years now. Since feeding ShowBloom I have seen a difference in my cattle’s coat, hooves, and overall appetite. All the changes have been positive since I began feeding it and I think it’s really given me an advantage.

ShowBloom: Beyond the show ring, what was the highlight of the summer for you?

Abby: My livestock judging team won a trip this fall to judge at N.A.I.L.E. So, getting the opportunity to travel around the U.S. practicing with our livestock judging team has been fun and a learning experience.

ShowBloom: If you could give 1 tip to a first year showman what would it be?

Abby: Never give up and hard work always pays off. One quote I live by is “Be true to the game, because the game will be true to you. If you try to shortcut the game, then the game will shortcut you. If you put forth the effort, good things will be bestowed upon you. That’s truly about the game, and in some ways that’s about life too,” by Michael Jordan.
