WHAT IS BREWERS YEAST?
Brewers yeast is a by-product of the beer brewing process. It is a single-cell organism of the group Saccharomyces cerevisiae, used by brewers to ferment raw beer and convert the carbohydrates to alcohol and carbon dioxide. During the fermentation process, the yeast absorbs many nutrients including several essential minerals. The yeast cell itself is almost one half high-quality, single-cell protein with an exceptional amino acid balance, and it contains an abundance of vitamins, especially B complex vitamins.
