Learning to Show with ShowBloom

Proper nutrition is just one of the important ingredients that will help showmen succeed in the ring. Hard work, preparation, good nutrition, showmanship and more go into preparing an animal for competition. That’s why ShowBloom is dedicated to helping our customers succeed in animal nutrition decisions and more through investing in youth education. “It’s great to work for a company and a family that supports youth and agriculture education,” said Alex Ailshie, ShowBloom territory manager. “It’s important to invest in our industry and ShowBloom does that on a local level through educational materials, shows and clinics.” Recently ShowBloom hosted a …

By Alex Ailshie We are excited to introduce a new program that is designed to reward our loyal ShowBloom feeders – Champions with ShowBloom. For years, top livestock and equine professionals have used ShowBloom to help push them to the winners circle. These champions appreciate how ShowBloom’s brewer’s yeast, vitamins and minerals increase the health, performance, and overall “bloom” of their animals. If You Eat, You’re A Part Of Agriculture

By Alex Ailshie You need a doctor when you are sick or injured. You need a mechanic when your vehicle is inoperable. You need a plumber to fix a leaky faucet. All of these are noble and worthwhile professions that meet the needs of people when they arise. But there is one group of people you need every day, three times a day – the American farmer. I believe the above is a good illustration of how important animal and production agriculture is to every human on this planet. There has been a growing trend of criticism and scorn of …

The Sales Ally

By Alex Ailshie When people hear the word ‘salesman,’ they tend to conjure up images of a greasy fellow with slick hair trying to sell used cars. I have to admit, before I took the sales position I have now, I might have had a similar interpretation. But I’ve learned quickly that sales, especially in the ag industry, is totally different and is built on relationship. Sales is not something you do to people, it’s something you do for and with them. This concept has really hit home as far as how a good salesman approaches his job. I believe …

New ShowBloom Bag

By Alex Ailshie I know a lot of our customers and friends who use ShowBloom are creative and love to do fun things with our bags. One of our users from Iowa likes to make totes to carry stuff to and from the show. We recently made the decision to upgrade our ShowBloom Bag design. The new bag has a bold new color scheme and a great new logo for all species of livestock. The best part is, the ShowBloom inside the bag is still the same supplement you know and love. I can’t wait to see the new and …

ShowBloom Is Family

By Alex Ailshie I was at a fair the other day talking to a family who uses ShowBloom and it got my wheels turning about ShowBloom, the F.L. Emmert Company, and family. The F.L. Emmert Company is family owned and operated and has been since 1881. They have been in the yeast business a long time! A lot has changed since way back when, but the family has carried the torch and continued in the proud tradition of their parents and grandparents and so on. It kind of reminded me of the show industry. A lot has changed in the …

Ditch The Rule: The American Farmers’ Fight Against The EPA

By Alex Ailshie On March 25th, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed a rule to expand its authority over land-use decisions to puddles, ponds, and ephemerals (land where water runs after a good rain). This rule will greatly hamper the farmers’ ability to effectively manage his land to stay competitive and profitable in a rapidly changing agricultural environment. In 1972, The United States Congress passed the Clean Water Act, which prohibited point source pollution into navigable waters without a federal permit. The EPA is now trying to overstep its bounds and begin to regulate waters that have been reaffirmed by …

Tales From The Road

By Alex Ailshie Greetings friends, and welcome! I look forward to bringing you tales from the road, interesting stories, industry news, and other informative and hopefully enjoyable readings. A little bit about myself: I was born in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1990 to Darrell and JoDee Ailshie. In 1994, my family moved to Columbia, Tennessee where I was raised. I grew up playing sports, showing cattle, and working in the stockyard and on the farm. My first “real” job came when I was nine, working at the Stockyard in Thompson Station, Tennessee. My dad would drive me up there every Wednesday of …
