At Emmert, brewer’s yeast is the foundation of who we are and what we do. Our company has been involved in the manufacturing and further processing of co-products from the beer industry for more than a century.
Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a single cell organism used in the fermentation process of brewing beer. Our source of brewer’s yeast has undergone a food-grade fermentation process before delivery by the brewery. The final product arrives at our facility as a combination of live liquid yeast and fermentation solubles.
During the fermentation process, brewer’s yeast absorbs nutrients and minerals, adding to its value as an animal feed supplement. The yeast becomes a source of naturally occurring, high-quality protein, vitamins, minerals, nutrients, and amino acids in the animals’ diet.
A more in-depth look at the various components of brewer’s yeast and Sacchromyces cerevisiae will be discussed in future posts.
